Abend Gallery is excited to present End of an era, a solo exhibition by Brad Davis. Known for his ability to transform ordinary urban environments into profound visual narratives, Davis’s work invites viewers to pause and reflect on the passage of time. With a meticulous approach rooted in traditional realism, his paintings explore themes of loss, preservation, and the fleeting beauty of the everyday.
Through End of an era, Davis continues his mission to elevate overlooked moments into timeless works of art, bridging the gap between the past and the present.
The paintings in End of an era explore themes of loss and obsolescence that are both personal and universal. As a painter working within the framework of traditional realism, I am interested in the art historical timeline that parallels our own societal development. From where we stand now, there are always whispers of what has come before and as we move into the future, the simple moments of our unknowable zeitgeist take on more meaning. It is my duty to act as a preservationist and the process of painting allows this amid time’s relentless march forward.
