The projections are displayed on screens using various supports—some exhibited on walls, while others rest on concrete cubes, referencing the crystal easels designed by Bo Bardi for MASP. This structure embodies her vision of an open and transparent museum, allowing visitors a closer engagement with artworks. The original soundtrack, composed by Maria de Alvear, enhances the installation’s immersive and sensory experience.

“For Lina Bo Bardi, a museum should not be a dusty repository of historical remnants. Exhibited objects only have meaning when they are accessible to the public, without hierarchies, and in dialogue with contemporary life. Reflecting on these ideals, Isaac Julien successfully conveys the relevance of Bo Bardi’s ideas, whose collective vision continues to shape spaces that foster interaction between art, architecture and society,” says Matheus de Andrade.

A marvellous entanglement was first exhibited at Victoria Miro Gallery in London in 2019. Now, it premieres in Brazil as part of Five essays on MASP – a series of exhibitions inaugurating the Pietro Maria Bardi Building, occupying five floors and reflecting on the museum’s history and collection.
