Top designs will return to Melbourne Museum from Saturday 29 March to 20 July 2025 as part of the VCE Season of Excellence, a celebration of the outstanding achievements of senior secondary students across Victoria.
Now in its 25th year, Top designs continues to highlight the creativity, innovation and critical thinking of the state’s emerging young designers. This milestone edition presents 77 imaginative works drawn from 9 VCE and VET design studies, including Media, Product Design and Technology, Systems Engineering, Visual Communication Design and more. Visitors can explore the research, experimentation and development processes behind each work, gaining insight into the dedication and skill involved.
The students featured in Top designs 2025 engage thoughtfully with the rapidly changing world around them. Their projects explore themes such as sustainability, place, community, automation and craftsmanship, offering fresh perspectives and inventive responses to contemporary challenges. The exhibition is presented in a hybrid format—both on-site at Melbourne Museum and online via a dedicated web hub—ensuring wide access. On-site Education Forums will provide students and educators with valuable opportunities for learning and inspiration.
