“In every work by Amikam Toren, there lies an act of destruction and... resurrection.”

Amikam Toren (b. 1945, Jerusalem) is a conceptual artist whose work engages with Arte Povera, Minimalism, Gutai and covertly with Pop Art. Despite having exhibited widely in Europe, Toren has never had a solo show in New York. For this reason, we are presenting a mini retrospective, which includes the following bodies of work: “Simple Fractions” (1975), “Replacing” (1975), "Hybrids" (1978-79), “Of The Times” paintings (1983-93), “Stack” sculptures (1992-95), and "Pidgin Paintings" (1986-present). Toren lives and works in London.

Frieze New York is an international contemporary art fair that launched in May 2012. In 2014 the fair will include over 190 of the world’s leading galleries, making Frieze New York 2014 the company’s largest event to date. Like Frieze London, Frieze New York is housed in a bespoke temporary structure, suffused with natural light. The fair is located in Randall’s Island Park, Manhattan.
