Bitfactory Gallery presents “Us” an exhibit by Denver LGBTQ+ artists.

LGBTQ+ artists have been, and always will be active in the art world but are underrepresented in galleries and exhibits. In keeping with Bitfactory Gallery’s goal to showcase emerging artists, they proudly present “Us”, an art exhibit by Denver local queer artists, on view October 18 through November 7, 2019. While the show is comprised entirely of artists that identify as something other than straight, the intention is not to further segregate and separate one community from another. “Us” is intended to demonstrate that, regardless of the pronoun one uses, art enriches all of our lives. The public is invited to celebrate the fact that we are all part of “Us” at an opening reception on October 18, 6-9 pm at Bitfactory Gallery, 851 Santa Fe and to view and purchase work during regular gallery hours Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and by appointment.

The exhibit will showcase art by Carlos Flores, Jeremy Patlen, Clint Ramstetter, Kenzie Sitterud and Louis Trujillo.

Louis Trujillo is a Denver native, creating works in his private studio and a shared studio at Art Gym Denver. His artwork is inspired by his dreams, his family, and his identity as a gay male. He received his B.F.A in drawing at Metropolitan State University of Denver where he was awarded the Nagel Art Thesis Grant and the Nagel Directed Studies Scholarship. He is a former member and PR Director of SYNC Gallery located in Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe. His artwork is part of national private collections. He currently works at Art Gym Denver assisting the Gallery Curator and Membership/Program Director.

Carlos Flores is a writer, cinematographer, painter and composer. Born in Puerto Rico and raised partial there and partially in the United States, as well as being bisexual, his work often explores the dualities and challenges in his queerness and cultural/linguistic diaspora. It seeks social relevance and respect for our ancestors, our community and our future. He lives in Denver, CO with his wife Connie and their watch-eyed dog, Nutmeg.

Jeremy Patlen is a Denver-based landscape and portrait photographer who has been shooting professionally since 2003. Whether traveling, documenting weddings or photographing people, he constantly seeks out the beauty that gives a place or person its intrinsic character.

Clint Ramstetter was born and raised in southern Colorado and has resided in and around Denver for the past 30 years. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and drawing from the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in 1999. In addition to working in many areas of the fine art industry, he has exhibited his paintings in bars and delicatessens in the Denver area.

Kenzie Sitterud works as a multimedia artist and designer, primarily producing immersive large-scale installations and designed experiences. Sitterud graduated in 2016 with a BFA in Communication design from Metropolitan State University of Denver and began their second year as an Artist-in-Residence at RedLine Contemporary Art Center located in Denver. They are a Colorado Creative Industries and NEAA recipient for the 2017 Career Advancement Grant and most recently received a 2019 P.S. You are Here Grant through Denver Arts & Venues to complete a commissioned public project for Design Workshop Foundation. In May 2019, Sitterud will produce a series of experimental works in collaboration with other Denver creatives for Denver Art Museum’s Untitled Event series, developing new explorations of queerness in public spaces.
