Gianluca Miniaci is a young, eclectic and cosmopolitan artist who has made a mark also in the realms of theater and music. On September 17 he inaugurates his one-man show “flowers and thorns” at Fondazione Stelline in Milan.
Curated by Luca Beatrice, the exhibition features sixteen works including paintings, sculptures, video art and performance installations. Figuring prominently among the latter are a tree and a nest – symbols of Life and Nature – along with the screening of a video shot by the artist.
No mere title of the show, flowers and thorns represents a concept that captures the artist’s essence, his soul: the contradictions, hopes and dreams which define his vision and which may at times come in conflict with the harsh realities of everyday living.
Open through October 13th, the show signals the artist’s return to Italy after a long period in Hong Kong and in the United States, where he found fulfillment and growth on many different levels.
Now Gianluca Miniaci invites visitors into an exquisitely unique and personal garden where he depicts Nature as a jumble of unknown influences, imbued with same sense of mystery that marks his young men and women: creatures in fixed poses exuding a faceless sensuality (or, better still, eyeless). So inspiring the observor to connect deeply with the piece of artwork and thereby give the characters populating it eyes once again. Sharing his or her own through the simple act of communication, interrelation.
The sculptural beauty in Gianluca’s paintings hints at a pure beauty in perfect and spontaneous harmony with nature. As during the Renaissance, the relationship between man and nature is substantially symbiotic, involves the constant interaction of two dynamic and ideally interdependent systems.
Entering Gianluca Miniaci’s secret garden means discovering new inner depths, experiencing rich new emotions. That’s the true spirit behind this event.
