From July 15 Erarta presents an exhibition “matter of dreams” by a French photographer Gerard Uferas. Gerard Uferas is one of the most famous and vibrant contemporary French photographers. Since 1984 Uferas has been collaborating with such magazines as Libération, Telerama, Time Magazine, Beaux Arts Magazine, Time Independent Magazine, New York Times Magazine, Marie Claire (Italy), Le Monde, L'Officiel, etc. Since 1993 he’s been a member of the famous Rapho agency.

Along with photojournalism Uferas works as a portraitist, and continues his personal artistic researches, which result in art books and international exhibition projects. His works are presented in the museum collections around the world: the European House of Photography in Paris, the National Gallery in London, the Musee de l'Elysee in Lausanne, the Henkel Collection in Germany and many others. Finally Uferas’s works have reached St. Petersburg, where they will be shown for the first time.

Gerard Uferas photos were recognized by numerous international prizes and awards (Art Directors Award, Paris, 1987; Villa Medici Hors les Murs, Paris, 1990; Art Journalism, London, 1991; Art Stories Second Prize, World Press Photo, Amsterdam, 1997; Grand Prix of SCAM for the photo portfolio, Paris, 1999).

The Erarta exhibition “Matter of Dreams” is based on the book with the same title, published in 2001, with the introduction by Christian Lacroix and Sarah Hauer, representing Gerard Uferas in his new role of fashion photographer.
