Spalding Nix Fine Art is thrilled to present Becoming, a series of four exhibitions by Khalilah Birdsong, Gretchen Wagner, Mary Robinson and Angela Carter. Together, the exhibitions explore transformation and how all that surrounds us informs, changes and shapes what we become.

Khalilah Birdsong’s There but for the grace of you go I is a series of layered abstract paintings that consider how memory, grace and human connection shape our capacity for resurgence, inviting us to reflect on our responsibility to one another.

Gretchen Wagner’s Color interaction VI is part of an ongoing series of printed, stitched and folded mixed media works that investigates how color responds when it is asked to occupy three-dimensional space. Mary Robinson’s After before is a series of abstract works inspired by the continual flux of life, utilizing materials and remnants from past works through the processes of painting, printmaking and collage. Angela Carter’s Indigo sunshine is a series of quilt-inspired mixed media works exploring memory, place, movement, and the ways fragments of experience can be transformed into something new and whole.
