Fremin Gallery is pleased to present Lis Sam September Exhibition, a solo exhibition by artist Lis Sam, on view from September 1 through October 31, 2026. The exhibition features the artist's signature series, exploring themes of transformation, femininity, and the profound connection between humanity and the natural world.
Born in Tunisia in 1989 and raised in France, Lis Sam is a self-taught artist whose practice evolved from street art and a background in craftsmanship. His multidisciplinary process combines photography, floral sculpture, and digital composition to create ethereal portraits that blur the boundaries between reality and imagination.
The blossoming girls series was inspired by a visit to a butterfly greenhouse in southern France, where the movement of thousands of butterflies among vibrant flowers became the catalyst for a body of work centered on beauty, metamorphosis, and renewal. Rather than documenting these moments, Sam meticulously constructs elaborate floral installations and handcrafted botanical headdresses in his studio before photographing and composing each final image.
Butterflies and flowers become powerful metaphors throughout the series, symbolizing growth, fragility, and continual transformation. The resulting works invite viewers into immersive, dreamlike landscapes where the human figure merges with nature, creating images that are both visually striking and emotionally resonant. With Blossoming girls, Lis Sam offers a poetic meditation on the fleeting beauty of the natural world and the enduring power of transformation.
