In the exhibition Who are you?, the MK&G is breaking new ground in visitor surveys: Guests are invited to playfully answer questions about their own behaviour at the museum and to learn more about themselves in the process. With this interactive approach, the MK&G actively engage its audiences and, based on the findings, further develop the museum into a place where even more people feel welcome and at ease. Based on questions such as “What is particularly important to you when you visit the MK&G?”, “What do you remember afterwards?” and “What would you change if you were director?”, guests can vote with sticky dots, write comments and share their experiences – or even make a drawing of what matters most to them.
The survey is supplemented by objects from the MK&G collection as well as a selection of poster campaigns from popular exhibitions at the MK&G in recent years, which themselves are the subject of questions. Parallel to the exhibition, the designer Chris Campe is realising a permanent wall installation in the western stairwell featuring visitors’ voices.
The exhibition Who are you? will grow and evolve during its run, becoming a shared experiential space in which visitors’ feedback, wishes and viewpoints are made visible and enter into a productive dialogue.
The exhibition is a cooperative project with students from the Public Design programme at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW) under the direction of Jona Piehl.
