This welcome space introduces a range of ways to engage with art that can be used both throughout the museum and beyond. Drawing prompts and materials encourage visitors of all skill levels to look closely, and the Risd Museum Way, our distinctive approach, considers the process, meanings, origins, and connections behind the works on view. Soundwalk audio pieces featuring makers, curators, scholars, and a museum guard delve into how artists and museums work, with questions including “Why is this even here?”.

Showcasing work by Risd alumni and faculty, Ways of looking highlights the museum’s connection to the college while making art and museums more accessible to all visitors.
