After three years at Kunstfabrik HB55 in Berlin-Lichtenberg Fabio Campagna reflects upon his artistic practice without stepping back. The activities at CORPO 6 could be subsumed under the realm of a Gesamtkunstwerk as one expression of Fabio Campagna‘s multimedial, multilayered and multidimensional artistic practice. No matter what role he takes, being a curator, galerist or artist, Fabio Campagna always seeks for the renewal of relations. All exhibited objects are embraced by his practice, constantly avoiding conformism with respect to its material non-organic characteristics. A spiritual and intellectual space, in which one artistic position sets his signs, symbols and signals meaning the world and going beyond, whilst turning it into a physical experience. Campagna spreads an attitude towards life. By combining his own artistic intention with various artistic positions and collaborations he brings forth another realm of community experienced collectively.
Fabio Campagna, a postmodern nomad on a journey to discover various possibilities of communal unity and self-fulfillment, who animates the exhibition towards an art form poised between Beys‘ idea of Social Sculpture and Szeemann‘s concept of Individual Mythology.
CORPO 6: A living sculpture Cutting the space wide open, Fabio Campagna‘s practice is fragile and strong at the same time: he is always creating new connections from which ever new relations and circumstances for himself, the artwork and the spectator are evolving. The artistic gesture, the moment of creation of the exhibited artworks, is revitalized through the combination of its documents floating in a fragile field of associations with autonomous sensations, creating an entity of its materiality, the physical exertion behind it and time. Thus CORPO 6 is a space of cultural encounter where the hidden sounds within all of us shape a polyphonic choral of autonomous voices, leaving behind a condensation of the energy felt in the moment, which, depicted the other day, is breaking the walls of the actual space.
CORPO 6 DIONISO One could classify Fabio Campagna‘s practice in the discipline of Conceptual Art, but his practice does not allow any disciplinary convention: His work unfolds his idea of social life as a constantly recomposed composition. In CORPO 6 DIONISO his first retrospective at Kunstfabrik HB55, you will encounter the purest geometric and universal forms, symbols and materials as one extension of the artistic gesture regaining its viability in collective experience and through polyphonic expressions. The nature of the art work and the artist himself are gaining shape through a natural phenomenon: it is not about him, nor his work, nothing that can be reduced to an object, it consists in that what evolves out of their form, in that which is created by their presence and which spreads out in an open range of possibilities of encounter. Not private nor public Dionysus orgiastic scenes. Where our consumerist society is defenselessly entering a realm of reality without abstracted conventions and encountering a range of deepest and darkest emotions, a diversity of realities evolve: Cumulated life in its purest form; suspending dichotomies in the instinctive encounter, which brings forth not only an aesthetic experience but a living l‘art pour l‘art.
Act that you may feel (and that you may be) The multilayered exhibition CORPO 6 DIONISO expresses inversion, it disobeys to the process of abstract social structure formation and conformism. By overcoming social segregation a social reality of value pluralism evolves at CORPO 6.
Sensuality radiates with its rich breadth of collective experienced communitisation, not as an explosive effervescence, or escape of reality but layed out on the common ground of solidarity, recognizing its basic need of togetherness< to re/gain moral well being. The key element of this retrospective is the moment of unleashing and its dissolution in time and space. Bringing forth the dark sides and hidden agendas CORPO 6 DIONISO figures as a fertile womb out of which the individual grows towards a larger ensemble based on daily life needs.
