Introducing the work of new East Bay artist Allison Allessio in our Viewing Room, we are pleased to showcase a fresh perspective grounded in a refined understanding of color and luminosity. Her vibrant acrylic ink on raw canvas paintings capture a balance between spontaneity and structure, allowing the interaction of pigment and surface to create subtle gradients of light and emotion. Each composition feels alive with movement, evoking both the serenity and intensity of the natural world translated through a modern lens.
Sharing a fascination with translucency and layered texture, Suzanne Frazier expands on this dialogue with her Afloat Series. Steering the fluid qualities of ink toward a geometric language, she employs an intaglio press to produce three new monoprints that merge precision and intuition. Frazier’s work explores how the transparency of color can suggest both depth and weightlessness, inviting the viewer to experience a suspended state between order and fluidity.
Completing the installation, two larger acrylic paintings on raw canvas by Jen Garrido introduce soft organic forms rendered in earth and jewel tones. Garrido’s work bridges the boundary between abstraction and figuration, expressing emotional nuance through gesture and hue. Together, these three artists create a cohesive yet varied presentation where color, texture, and transparency resonate in conversation — a celebration of material exploration and intuitive mark-making.
