On September 29 and 30, the Inova USP Complex in São Paulo will host the third edition of the Deep Tech Summit, the leading Latin American event dedicated to science and technology-based innovation. The summit brings together startup leaders, investors, universities, research institutions, and public agencies to foster solutions born from science with global potential.

Deep tech refers to technologies developed from scientific and engineering advances that can transform entire industries. These innovations address complex challenges in sectors such as healthcare, energy, agriculture, mobility, smart cities, and climate change. Due to their deep R&D cycles, these solutions often take longer to reach the market, but their capacity to create social, economic, and environmental value is substantial.

Latin America is emerging as a promising region in this space. Today, 25% of deep tech startups in the region have received institutional investment, reaching a combined valuation of over USD 8 billion. Between 2020 and 2022, venture capital investments grew by a factor of 44, a clear sign of ecosystem maturity.

The Deep Tech Summit was launched in 2023 by Emerge to provide visibility and structure to this growing movement. Its 2024 edition brought together over 1,200 participants, 101 exhibiting startups, and key sponsors and supporters such as FINEP, Sebrae, Suzano Ventures, Natura, and Thermo Fisher. More than 3,000 business meetings were held during the event.

The 2025 edition aims to solidify the Deep Tech Summit as the main platform for connecting science and markets across Latin America. One of the highlights will again be the Deep Tech of the Year Award, which recognizes high-impact startups. In 2024, Brain4care was awarded for its non-invasive intracranial pressure monitoring technology, Nintx for its AI-driven drug discovery platform, and Decoy for developing innovative bioinsecticides.

The award also highlights the diversity of sectors deep tech serves: from synthetic biology to animal health, education to chemical engineering. Each recognized solution reflects the power of science-driven entrepreneurship to build a better future.

Hummano Group will join the 2025 edition as an institutional partner and will present, in collaboration with FEEC-UNICAMP and UNILABS, a deep green tech lab focused on smart cities, digital twins, agroforestry systems, and battery-free energy storage. The event will also feature the launch of Bright Green Book 2: Between Deep Green Tech and Smartups, 21st Century Choices, showcasing 200 impactful technologies and initiatives across climate, society, and economy.

Participation in the Deep Tech Summit reflects a shared belief: innovation and sustainability must go hand in hand. Turning knowledge into impact requires close collaboration between science, business, and public policy. Latin America faces the challenge, and the opportunity, to lead this new frontier.
