Step into a world of prehistoric giant animals in this immersive, family-friendly exhibition, featuring life-sized 3D models, nearly complete fossil skeletons, hands-on activities and digital projections.

Journey through time, from 66 million years ago to the present day, to encounter the awe-inspiring creatures that roamed the Earth after the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Featuring six life-sized 3D reconstructions and three nearly complete fossil skeletons including:

  • Titanoboa cerrejonensis - The largest rainforest-dwelling snake.

  • Paraceratherium - A prehistoric rhinoceros, the largest land mammal ever known.

  • Otodus megalodon - The largest predatory shark that ever lived.

  • Livyatan melvillei - An ancient whale with massive teeth and cousin of the sperm whale.

  • Megatherium americanum - One of the largest giant sloth species.

  • Smilodon populator - The largest and most iconic Saber-toothed cat.

  • Gigantopithecus blacki - A colossal Asian primate, as large as three orangutans.

  • Panthera spelaea - The cave lion, one of the largest felines to roam the Earth.

  • Mammuthus primigenius - The iconic woolly mammoth.

You’ll get hands-on with activities that let you step into the shoes of a palaeontologist, exploring how fossils are discovered and studied. Plus, the immersive projections will transport you into the ancient environments these giants once roamed.

While these prehistoric giants are long gone, you’ll also be reminded that modern giants - like elephants, whales, and gorilla - still walk among us today, but they are now under threat of extinction. The exhibition also acts as a reminder of nature’s fragility and the urgent need to protect these animals for future generations.

Giants has been developed by the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences and toured by Nomad Exhibitions.
