Rosa Barba has created a spatial installation for the MdbK on the large terrace on the 2nd floor, in which she addresses the physical perception of light and space. Coloured glass floats in a modernist second ceiling. The result is a room within a room that opens up transparently to a space behind and above.

The terrace thus becomes a giant camera lens that focuses and projects light and also a shelter or a community defining space. Through this quasi-photographic process, space and time acquire different qualities, but remain unambiguously physical experiences.

Under the canopy is the fourth installation in the series of spatial installations specially designed for the large corner terrace on the second floor of the MdbK - after Chiharu Shiota's Internal line (September 23, 2021 - March 27, 2022), Hito Steyerl's The city of broken windows (June 15 - October 15, 2023) and Sandra Mujinga's Fleeting home (November 30, 2023 - January 12, 2025).
