One of the most controversial and representative artists of our time, Araki uses photography as a means to witness the passing of time and to portray the surrounding world without any filter, embracing all its contradictions. The act of photographing is a tool to show everything, to extract the essence of things and, in the case of women, to show what they are, their daily lives or their sensuality. His photographs act as an existential diary, where the flow of life is represented by images.
Driven by a passion for life, Araki always creates an emotional tension between two opposites: good and evil, humor and mystery, eroticism and playfulness. The protagonists of his work are the Eros through women, and the physicality of passing time through his sensual and powerful flowers and his skies where time and space vanish.
Naked, tied up, caught during sexual pleasure, shot in a garden or on a street, licentiously abandoned on the floor or on a traditional tatami, Araki's models appear conscious of the theatre of seduction but at the same time they offer their beauty and sensuality to the photographer with a disarming abandonment.
The exhibition consists of large and medium photographs and Polaroids.
