After five successful editions at the Gashouder in Amsterdam, the Europe Art Fair will descend on MECC Maastricht for the first time on September 13 and 14, 2025. This international art fair offers an innovative stage to over 100 contemporary artists from all over Europe, with the unique feature that they show and sell their work directly to visitors without the intervention of galleries or commission payments.

Raoul Locht, fair manager of the Europe Art Fair, explains, "We offer European professional artists their own stage. Visitors can talk directly to the makers and buy their work without the intervention of gallery owners. That makes the offer more accessible and the prices lower. There is also room at the fair for galleries, where the gallery owner represents the artists whose works are on display.#

Wide range of disciplines

The fair annually receives about 3,000 visitors in a single weekend and displays a broad palette of disciplines: from painting to installations, photography to sculpture. The emphasis is on craftsmanship, diversity and personal encounters.

Collaborations with Maastricht partners

A special part of the 2025 edition is the collaboration with the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts (Zuyd). Graduates and alumni will have their own exhibition space on the exhibition floor at their disposal. This initiative is made possible in part by Avrotros.

There is also a collaboration with the Maastricht University Medical Center+ (MUMC+) on the social project Verhalen verbeeld, in which artists, together with palliative patients, create works of art that depict life and farewell. These artworks will be exhibited during the fair and auctioned for charity on Saturday evening, along with artwork provided by participating artists. Throughout the weekend, a different jazz trio from the Maastricht Conservatory of Music will fill the Europe Art Fair with lively background sounds and musical energy each time.
