Karina Rosanne Barrett was born in 1981 and studied at Glyndŵr University. She lives in Snowdonia and paints the surrounding landscape, citing Anglesey and the Llŷn Peninsula as her main sources of inspiration. More often than not, she paints 'en plein air.’
She says of her work; "The sea is a very important subject for my work; its sheer power and beauty have always had a strong influence on me. I am fascinated by the enigmatic light around the coast, and I never tire of trying to capture its tricks on canvas. I also have a particular interest in the traditional dwellings of the area, and the idea of them slowly being reclaimed by their landscape."
This exhibition is Karina's first solo show at the Tegfryn Gallery. It consists of approximately 30 new paintings and provides a wonderful opportunity to see the work of a talented young artist at an early stage in her career.
