The Link Gallery houses the impressive working 1890 pipe organ, which was originally installed in St Augustine's Church in Merewether. This beautifully crafted instrument not only represents a piece of musical history, but also offers visitors a chance to experience the resonant sounds of the late 19th century.
Also on display is the highly significant 1870 J&A Brown Locomotive No. 4. This locomotive stands as one of the most important artefacts from the original Great Northern Railway (GNR) occupation of the site, symbolising the beginnings of the region’s industrial growth and its vital connection to coal and rail transport in Newcastle’s history.
In addition to housing these historically rich items, the Link Gallery serves as a flexible space for temporary exhibitions and special events. It brings together the industrial and cultural heritage of the region, while continuing to evolve as a dynamic venue for education and community engagement.
