Leon Pericles AM is a renowned West Australian artist whose work has been exhibited globally and nationally over many years. His diverse interests and deep curiosity about the world find expression in his well-loved prints, paintings and sculptures.
Objecticus eclecticus features Pericles' latest etching, Marks of perpetual significance, a work that explores the evolution of writing and the enduring meaning of marks and symbols across time. "There are fascinating variations in the marks mankind has used over time to communicate", says Pericles. "It's quite inspiring to see our evolution in agriculture, education and intelligence directly associated with methods of mark making. Writing and mark making is one of mankind's greatest inventions." Also featured are a collection of original works and sculptures, including popular etchings nearing the end of their edition. Some works incorporate interactive elements, allowing viewers to engage with the art in new ways.
After a presentation at the prestigious Academia di Belle Arti Bologna in 2023, Pericles is proud to share this collection, which highlights his ability to fuse myriad influences, techniques, and cultural references into a cohesive and dynamic vision that defines his distinctive artistic voice.
Much loved artist, Leon Pericles has an extensive list of collectors from all over the world including many family and friends that have supported and joined him along his career. This includes a long association with the Chaney family here in Perth. Please join us to celebrate the exhibition opening, to be officiated by Kate Chaney MP, Federal Member for Curtin.
