Jealous Gallery and Print Studio is delighted to announce it’s first ever exhibition of unique monoprints.
‘Flowers For Your Darlings’ sees the first collaboration between Royal College of Art student and graduate team, Danny Augustine and Adam Bridgland. The pair have come together in the Jealous Studio to produce thirteen rich and vivacious floral prints using the technique of monoprinting, painting directly through the silkscreen mesh onto paper.
The themes of ‘love’ and ‘lust’ will be explored in this new series of unique prints.
Danny Augustine & Adam Bridgland
Born in 1986 and raised in Hackney, Danny studied Fine Art at the University of East London. Currently studying for a MA in printmaking at the Royal College of Art, Danny's work deals predominantly with ideas of identity and gender, and how it is portrayed in today's society, be it male, female, transgender or homosexual. Playing with a narrative which starts out as hope quickly becomes a hegemony of power and a carnival of vice.
In regards to love and family Danny's work leaves the viewer both with a sense of what could have been and with a sense of how those feelings have been distorted by gender politics and advertising.
A graduate of the Royal College of Art, Adam Bridgland has shown widely both in the UK and Internationally, recently at the London Art Fair, and as part of the Courtauld Institute of Art’s East Wing Project. Adam states of his work; “Much of the subject matter for my work is taken from the everyday world. They are often pieces that have a heavy leaning towards 'Englishness' or kitsch” His work is held in many public and private collections, including those of the V&A, UBS, Boeing and Debbie Harry.
