Theca Gallery Lugano organizes the second Gallery exhibition on the theme of the icon in contemporary art.

Three artists are involved in the show: Carlo Buzzi, which will exhibit his latest operations of public art (Savon), Marco Mendeni, which will show his first artworks realized in Berlin as a hybrid between videogame programming and concrete on the theme of Avatar, and finally the artist Marc Vincent Kalinka presenting contemporary icons taken from the Maliconico series as well as those recently exposed to Brussels Art Fair from the series The Book I've Loved, these artworks will be exhibited for the first time in Switzerland. Each artist will show a small group of artworks among the significant of ICON in contemporary iconography focusing on loss of sacredness and aurea image in the age of media.

The focus is then placed on what today becomes a recognizable image through public exposure, urban or digital space.

Carlo Buzzi at the 55* Venice Biennale has created the side project of public art Dowser, consisting of a public posting of 150 posters for the historic center of Venice represented a water prospector, Marc Vincent Kalinka will exhibit his project Balconism at Manifesta10 in Saint Petersburg, the European Biennale of art hosted at the Hermitage Museum on next June, Marco Mendeni has finally recently exhibited his video FOV at the Galleria Civica of Trento/MART in an exhibition curated by Giorgio Verzotti, art director of Bologna Fiera.

Different media are used in this show, public billposting, rips and photography are used by Carlo Buzzi, video programming and cement are the media selected by Marco Mendeni and hand serigraphs on paper and elaborations on lambda aluminium are the materials chosen by Kalinka to represent the concept of icon in contemporary art.
