Enzo Fiore. The exhibition Genesis: The Legends of History, in program at the Victorian from March 29th to May 27th 2012 offers a panoramic view of an entire series of work by the artist, from sculptures to his most recent portraits of illustrious persons.

Presented by the Contini Gallery of Art, the showing is curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, organized and coordinated by the agency Comunicare Organizzando under the direction of Alessandro Nicosia.

The works of Enzo Fiore take their originality from his use of “lifeless” matter –, twigs, musk, branches insects, roots, earth, leaves and stones – along with resin epoxy and cement - that become the instruments for creating forms suspended between nature and fantasy. In his sculptures twigs and roots which have not lost their function of distributing lifeblood to plants, are organized as if to simulate arteries and the muscular structure of his subjects which while appearing fossilized, are full of life and seem ready to move. An important concept in his work therefore, is the similarity between plant and life structure: roots give life to plants, veins give life to animals.
The strong use of color in his portraits underlines a vital and essential aspect reminiscent of a Pop Art mood.
Fiore exerts a strong sense of fascination over the viewer and through the imperceptibly structured use of organic matter – a peculiarity of his artistic studies – seemingly leads us by a delicate but firm hand into an almost mythological legend where the viewer is invited to participate.
