Let’s cut to the chase. Coaching is insanely competitive. Think about it this way—imagine a mountain. Not just any mountain, but the size of Mount Everest. Thousands of people start at the base. Many try to climb. But as the altitude increases, the struggle gets real. The climb becomes more demanding. The air gets thinner. The mental and physical exhaustion sets in. Most give up and head back down. 80-90% fail.
But then there’s a smaller group, the 10-20% who make it. They’ve trained before the climb. They’ve prepared for the harsh conditions. They take the knocks. They handle the altitude. They reach the top.
And once they’ve made it there? A tiny fraction of them take it to the next level. They jump off using a wingsuit—now they’re flying. The Alex Hormozis. The James Smiths. And let’s not even get started on Tony Robbins—while some are jumping off cliffs with wingsuits, Tony’s got a bloody Chinook helicopter.
This is the reality for most coaches. They enter with big dreams, only to realise that the climb is far steeper than expected. But here’s the truth: if you’re willing to put in the work, you can be one of the 10-20% who reach the top.
Let me give it to you straight: The only limit to your impact is your imagination and commitment. That’s a quote from Tony Robbins himself, and it hits home every time.
How I got here
You might have heard that I’m semi-retired now. My wife likes to joke about it. I coach because I enjoy it, and I do it for fun more than anything else. But trust me, getting to this point wasn’t easy. It’s been a journey full of lessons, setbacks, and a lot of persistence. And now, I’m paying it forward, sharing what I’ve learned along the way.
Here’s the deal, though: If you want to make it in this industry, you need to cut through the noise. This space is flooded with charlatans and false promises. You’ve seen the flashy sales pages, the "earn X in Y time" schemes. Forget about it. If anyone tells you they’ll make you rich quick, they’re selling you a dream that isn’t real.
You need proof, not flashy promises. I’m not here claiming to be a multi-multi-millionaire or driving a pink Lamborghini. I do have a dog, though. He wasn’t expensive. But I digress.
The reality of coaching: it’s hard, but it’s worth it
Building a successful coaching business is hard work. There’s no shortcut to it. You need consistency, strategy, and, most importantly, the willingness to show up every damn day.
For me, it’s all about the basics. You have to be visible. You have to be consistent. You have to show up, and not just occasionally. You need to show up every day. The hustle doesn’t stop just because it’s Christmas. Trust me, I’ve replied to DMs on Christmas Day. That’s the reality of building something meaningful.
Now, let me introduce you to my Everyday Tick Box Formula. It’s simple, but it works. This process has been a game-changer for me, and I’m giving it to you for free (feel free to amend it to suit your needs).
Here’s how it works:
Social media: consistency is key.
Website: have a solid online presence.
Newsletter: keep people in the loop.
Lead magnets: offer value for free.
Webinars: build trust and engagement.
LinkedIn & Instagram: show up where your audience is.
Podcasts & guest blogs: share your expertise.
Targeted paid ads: only if needed.
Your content: blog posts, articles, and case studies.
For me, organic growth is the way to go. It’s not about viral content or big numbers. It’s about building trust over time. Show up, add value, and be consistent. That’s how you build real momentum.
Proof over promises
You’re going to see others out there with better formulas, bigger followings, and yes, they’ll be driving Lambos in Dubai. They’ll promise you the world and ask for big sums of money. But don’t get distracted.
Here’s the thing: before anyone buys from you, they need to see you 7-8 times. This isn’t just some random stat. It’s backed up by the data and by experience.
Here’s my breakdown:
1.7% of 100 people = 1.7 clients.
1.7% of 1,000 people = 17 clients.
1.7% of 10,000 people = 170 clients.
In 2024, I signed 117 people onto my Balance Blueprint program. That’s not including private coaching, one-off sessions, or online courses. A total of 6,880 people signed up for my webinars, newsletters, and lead magnets. And you know what? All 117 gave me a 5-star review. Why? Because I only work with people I genuinely believe I can help.
The key takeaway
If you want to make £5,000 - £10,000 a month, there’s no shortcut. This is a hard, competitive game. The formula is simple: tick the boxes, show up every day, and let the results speak for themselves.
If someone tells you they can make you rich overnight, don’t buy into it. The reality is proof and consistent effort. That’s the key. You’ve got to love what you do, and more importantly, you’ve got to help people, genuinely.
And remember: Alex Hormozi nailed it when he said, “The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking spaces.” Don’t get distracted by shiny objects. Stay on course. Keep grinding. Keep giving value. You’ll get there.
And most importantly, find your niche. Stop trying to be like everyone else. Be authentic. That’s the real key to standing out.
Stay on track. The mountain’s big, but if you stick with it, you’ll reach the top. And when you do? You’ll be ready to jump off with your wingsuit.
