What will the theatre houses of tomorrow look like? What shape will these central spaces of collective cultural encounter take? It is not just the technical requirements and possibilities that are changing – the way performances are staged and what the public wants to see are also in flux.

This exhibition of the Deutsches Architekturmuseum DAM Frankfurt/Main looks at theatres, opera houses and concert halls of recent years, both in Germany and in Europe. These include restored historical buildings as well as spectacular new structures, which in some cases constitute landmarks in their respective urban settings. The recent refurbishment of the Berliner Staatsoper Unter den Linden is also examined in detail.

The Deutsches Architekturmuseum, the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe, the Berlin Senate Department for Urban Development and Housing, and Kulturprojekte Berlin present this exciting exhibition for a short time in Berlin.
