Belgravia Summer Exhibition is featuring paintings by Lesley Thiel, Charlie Mackesy, Chryssa Verghi, Susan Swartz, Charlie Calder Potts and Stefanos Daskalakis.

A new artist for Belgravia is Darren Baker (born 1976) winner of Best Artist in 2010 by the Fine Art Trade Guild, appointed Official Artist to the 2012 Olympic Games. Darren Baker is a realist painter of phenomenal technique, who has already painted Prime Ministers, Royalty and the sporting elite. His portrait, described as ‘remarkable’, of Lady Thatcher, was sold for £40,000 at the Conservative Summer Ball.

Subjects in the exhibition range from equestrian portraits by Thiel, studies of London life by Mackesy, whose work attracts top showbiz collectors, luminous abstracts in acrylic by Susan Swartz, paintings inspired by poetry by Charlie Calder-Potts, realistic still life studies by Stefanos Daskalakis, and Chryssa Verghi a distinguished Greek ‘plein air’ artist whose work can be seen in the Greek Parliament, National Gallery of Athens and many other prestigious Greek institutions.

Belgravia Gallery, established in Mayfair since 2004, on two spacious white floors of a building designed by fifties Modernist architect Goldfinger, invariably shows a variety of brilliant contemporary art: paintings, lithographs, sculpture and fine art photography from realist landscape to Pop Art. Their list includes Picasso and Rembrandt.

Anna Hunter and her daughter run the Belgravia Gallery together. Anna was entrusted by HRH The Prince of Wales to sell his signed lithographs, and following exceptional success with the Royal artwork they were asked to sell lithographs and original artwork by Nelson Mandela.
