Hyunjung Rhee is a Korean artist based in New York City, where she graduated with an MFA from Pratt Institute. Having taught herself coding, her works seamlessly incorporate a more traditional art practice with technology.

She examines the failures in the communication system and the transmis- sion space through multimedia installations. It is from her own experience with miscommunication and linguistic collision that Rhee conceptualizes in her mechanized sculptures.

The exhibition will include two of her major installations, Entagled Description and Corpora as well as some of her drawings. The show will focus on the Entangled Description piece, a motorized artwork programed to randomly rotate and make the text printed on the bands interact each other.

The result is a loss of meaning and multiple smudged bands that she gathers and assembles to create Corpora, a two-dimensional work exploring this conceptualized linguistic collision.
