Submarine chases in the archipelago, major political manoeuvres, east against west and the constant struggle of super powers. Let's look back at the cold war.

While the Swedish Armed Forces were in semi-war situations with foreign submarines in the archipelago and constant incidents in the Baltic Sea, the 1980s were also a time of glamour, quick profits and a thriving popular culture.

Surface Tension describes the last decade of the cold war from the Swedish Navy's perspective, but also the contrasts between the military and civil society.

In this exhibition we can listen to personal accounts from those who were there when it happened, see unique items and learn about what led up to the cold war.
