Cooking, cleaning, setting the table, making the bed, entertaining guests, decorating a house. The everyday life of the house is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for children’s games. With dolls, dollhouses, and toy stoves, furniture and tableware, children make up stories and re-enact the household activities of adults. More than 100 years ago these kinds of toys were reserved for girls from the wealthy classes.

The exhibition Little Life takes the visitor into a wonderful miniature world, which beautifully represents the domestic life of the middle class of the 19th and early 20th century.

The basis of the exhibition is an exceptional dollhouse, made around 1900, modelled upon a neoclassical Brussels house. Together with all sorts of other toys we show you from the parlour to the bathroom what the house, interior decoration and the daily life of a wealthy family looked like.

For the kids: A lively display with DIY activities, a 3D animation and play-area with giant dollhouse, a craft- and reading corner makes the exhibition really fun for children.
