On January 25th, 26th and 27th 2013 Bologna will be in the sign of art, showing its most dynamic and enterprising side. The city will host the first and long-awaited edition of SetUp, the new fair of contemporary art, conceived, produced and promoted by Simona Gavioli, Marco Aion Mangani and Alice Zannoni.

The protagonists of the event SetUp Contemporary Art are emerging artists and young curators. The fair immerses totally into the fertile world of contemporary art, to filter the 30 most interesting proposals and to give life to a three-day festival projecting the start of new creative talents within a joint effort between curator, art dealer and artist.

It is this format that signs the strength of SetUp, aiming to stimulate the collaboration between artists, curators, gallery owners and collectors and adding to the commercial aspects of an exhibition also a stimulus to generate cultural perspective.

The categories which are invited to participate are galleries, foundations, cultural organizations, artists' residences, art academies and cultural awards. Their projects have to be send for selection to the Scientific Committee composed by Antonio Arévalo, curator Chile Pavilion at the 52nd edition of the Venice Biennale, Martina Cavallarin, critical art curator and artistic director of scatolabianca, Valerio Dehò, art critic, curator and artistic director of Kunst Meran, Viviana Siviero, art critic, curator and head Espoarte journalist and Eugenio Viola, critic and curator.

After the official announcement of SetUp, here are some important updates.
The location of SetUp will be the central and strategically positioned bus station in Bologna (Piazza XX Settembre 6) just 300 meters from the railway station. This architectonic example of industrial design of the ‘60 with 1600 square meters on the first floor, will host 30 exhibitors, spread over 1000 square meters. The remaining part will be dedicated to cultural areas for talks, presentations, performances, panel discussions, offices, special rooms for negotiations between dealers and buyers and capacious lounge areas. In these spaces will also be hosted the publishing industry. Some other significant presences in SetUp will be the New Media Art just as Food and Art.

At the end of the event, the Scientific Committee will assign two awards: SetUp Artist, to the most interesting and promising artist under 35 and SetUp Curator.

The winners will have the opportunity to organize a personal exhibition in one of the most prominent space on the national territory, "Workshop of the Zattere" in Venice. The gallery that brought the winning project ears an exhibition space free of charge during the second edition of SetUp.

Since its first edition SetUp boasts the media partnership of Artribune, Contemporary Art News, ArteSera, Espoarte and MyWhere, and benefits from the trust of partners such as Pomilio Blumm and SerData.

From 25 through 27 January 2013, large areas of the first floor of the bus station of Bologna will change the face and will be the container for all that is new and resourceful on the international art scene and culture.
