A selection of works from the 2015 Sussex Artists’ Award will go on display at Pallant House Gallery in September. Artists of all ages and from all backgrounds have submitted their works in the hope of winning a solo show at the Gallery in 2016.

The exhibition will showcase selected works submitted to the Sussex Artists’ Award, a biennial nationwide open competition formerly known as the Open Art Competition.

The Award is a collaboration between St. Wilfrid’s Hospice and Pallant House Gallery’s Community Programme, and raises vital funds for St Wilfrid's Hospice, Chichester and Pallant House Gallery's Community Programme, which provides long term meaningful creative opportunities for a diverse range of people. Both charities make an important contribution to the local community.

Around 250 works were submitted for this edition of the competition by artists hoping to gain exposure in an internationally recognised gallery. A selection panel consisting of Katy Norris (Curator, Pallant House Gallery), Sue England (Partners in Art volunteer, Pallant House Gallery), Nathaniel Hepburn (Director of Ditchling Museum of Art & Craft) and Rachel Johnston (Senior Lecturer, University of Chichester) have chosen 40 works to go on display in the Studio at Pallant House Gallery exhibition from 1-27 September.

A panel of judges will then select three prize winners and two highly commended pieces from those works. The winner will win a solo show at Pallant House Gallery in April 2016 while second and third prizes will be cash prizes (or equivalent). The judging panel comprises Laura Ford (Sculptor), Elspeth Bray (Director, Moncrieff-BrayGallery) and Simon Martin (Artistic Director, Pallant House Gallery).

The exhibition is held in the Studio at Pallant House Gallery and is free to enter.
