Le Dame Art Gallery in collaboration with Showroom De Masi, presents “Steamworks Animal Farm”, a solo exhibition by Gian Luca Gentili, set from the 25th of June for a month in Rome, Italy.
An exhibition with a strong “English” touch that pays omage to George Orwell’s famous “Animal Farm”.
An exhibition with a strong English atmosphere, beginning from a title that pays homage to the classic novel "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. Through an ironic and provocative touch, Gentili expresses his refusal to mediocrity and, in some cases for modernity, turning back to a nostalgic and decadent look. If the stylistic references are heterogeneous, the vanguards of the twentieth century, abstract expressionism, objects symbol of decadent culture between '800 and' 900 are a constant of his work. Mechanical gears, top hats, and pocket watches mix and mingle with strange creatures, animals dressed as humans and vice versa, “impossible to say which was which”, just as in Orwell's novel.
Painting by Gian Luca Gentili is an explosion of colors, a celebration of life that fully reflects a playful personality and a great psycho-physical strength of the artist. To express this exuberance, to satisfy the impulses of his research, the artist recovers a sense of authentic existence open to the actual search for the truth opposed to the superficiality of an empty and boring routine.
The exhibition, curated by Le Dame Art Gallery in collaboration with Showroom De Masi, is sponsored by White Hand Group, Tartarughino and Casetta Village.
