Carlos Gamez de Francisco (b. 1987, Holguín, Cuba) is a Cuban American painter who lives and works in Louisville, KY, and Fort Myers, FL. In 2004, he attended the Raúl Gómez García Fine Arts School in Holguín, Cuba, where he studied with Cuban artists Miguel Ángel Salvo, Cosme Proenza, and Harry Ruiz. In 2006, he attended the José Martí Fine Arts School, also in Holguín, Cuba.

He earned a Distinguished Scholarship at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL in 2016. His work has been widely exhibited, with recent solo exhibitions at 21c Museum in Louisville, Kentucky, and Bentonville, Arkansas; Monica Graham Fine Art in Carmel, CA; Miller Gallery in Cincinnati, OH; Portland Art Gallery in Portland, ME; Hardcore Art Contemporary Space in Miami, Florida; The Muhammad Ali Museum in Louisville, Kentucky; and the Colonial Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba.

His work has also been exhibited at Art Market San Francisco (2022), Scope Art Show, Miami (2021 and 2012), Art Palm Beach (2014), Art Southampton, New York (2015), and Context Art Miami (2016). His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, Owensboro, KY; 21c Museum Hotel, St. Louis, MO; Evansville Museum, Evansville, IN; 21c Museum Hotel, Louisville, KY; Cuba Ocho Museum & Performing Arts Center, Miami, FL; Polanco’s Collection, Havana, Cuba; and many others. Gamez de Francisco has received numerous awards, including Fine Art Photographer of the Year (2020), Moscow International Photo Awards, Moscow, Russia; Gold Award (2020), Tokyo International Foto Awards, Tokyo, Japan; “Dreammakers” Artist in Residence at the Muhammad Ali Center; and the Museum Guild Purchase Award from the Evansville Museum.
