The inaugural exhibition marks the opening of the Galerie Putman’s new premises, following more than a hundred exhibitions held over the past twenty years on Rue Quincampoix.
We wanted to present a group show and have selected works by more than twenty artists with whom we have been collaborating for many years. It is a free-flowing dialogue between the pieces, as we like to do from time to time at the gallery. Playing on a variety of formal associations, the exhibition layout adapts to the works and the space just as a collector would do at home.
This inaugural exhibition is intended to reflect what we offer our loyal patrons: artists from different generations, a preference for works on paper – though not exclusively – including drawing, watercolour, engraving, lithography and photography, with no hierarchy between the techniques.
